Saturday, October 31st marked the first “Unity Day” event coordinated by Changing Lives of Boca Raton. Nearly 20 non-profits joined together to support the homeless population by showcasing free medical and community services, resources for public assistance. The event was staffed by volunteers and held at Ebenezer Baptist Church at 200 NE 12th Street in east Boca Raton.
Changing Lives of Boca Raton is a nonprofit homeless resource that provides immediate and long-term solutions for food, shelter, social services, education, job training and other necessities to those in need. Their mission is to help transform the lives of the underserved so they may achieve independence and rejoin society.
“We were able to serve 150 of our local homeless population today with support services as well as a healthy meal. It was a rewarding and heartwarming experience,” stated Judith Morales, Advisory Board Member
Jim Batmasian, founder of Changing Lives of Boca Raton added, “I am overwhelmed with the generous support from so many local businesses and organizations. We invite the community to join us and help the homeless not only find a healthy meal or place to sleep, but to rise above their circumstances and become an important part of our everyday society.”
In 2020, the need across our region has escalated amongst the impoverished and homeless communities. Unity Day was created to help disadvantaged, struggling and underprivileged families – both homeless and those at risk of being homeless — by presenting them with all the great resources each organization has to offer.
